The Consilium History

History

The Consilium of Nottingham does relatively new as consiliums go; not exist five years ago. Before its inception the Nottingham area had no order, and was a nest of Nephandi and Abyssal magic. No sane mage would ever go there, and many Guardian spies (as well as Mysterium Reclaimers) were lost to the city.
Then a cell of Scelesti attacked the Consiliums of Durham and London. In Durham, on one night, they burnt through the Mysterium’s Library killing serveral of the Magi there. Additionally they destroyed the Desmesne in Durham castle, stealing the Soul Stone of Balthazaar. In London they for a week the street burned to the Magi, as a small Wizard’s War erupted with Pentacle Mages desperately trying to figure out who was hitting them. Eventually the Consilium worked out the nature of their attackers and managed to hunt down the majority of the Scelesti.
These attacks forced the Mages of Britain to recognise the issue of Nottingham and the neighbouring areas. The attacks on London resulted in the London Guardians being a loud voice of the ‘cleaning of Nottingham’. With a contingent of angry Mysterium and Arrows from Durham and smatterings of mages caught up in the Guardian rhetoric a small army of Magi and their allies fell upon Nottingham.
The attack was dictated by the Arrow Warleader; his plan was simple. The Guardians would slip into the target regions, with trained Arrow ‘insergents’ joining them. These would disrupt spirit and leylines and allow the majority of the Magi to walk into the area. Lock it down and kill the various Nephandi and their supernatural/mundane allies. This worked quite well for the areas surrounding Nottingham, but as soon as one of the teams started to move onto Nottingham they were attacked by a Acamoth, killing all but two of the team.
For the next month the council of Magi discussed what to do, whilst cataloguing the masses of Artifacts, bound spirits and various items that the various Nephanid had collected. Much to the dismay of the Mysterium, the Soul Stone of Balthazaar was never found. Most of these articles never found their way out into the light, with either the Mysterium, or more commonly, the Guardians locking them away from the light of day.
As well as artifacts, the council also had gained several prisoners. Most were half mad, or shattered servants with little knowledge of anything, let alone useful intel. One however, a Mara Fang offered the Council a tempting offer. The details of this are unknown, only a few select Guardians and Arrow were ever allowed to know this. The mage is now under house arrest outside of Nottingham, with a death sentence ready to be placed on his head if he should ever leave his property. The result was the breaking of Nottingham, for a couple of nights Nottingham burned and the Nephandi captured or put down. A month after the attack of Durham, the Consilium was signed among the mages that had decided to stay and mend the damaged Tapestry.
